The daughter of a pianist and piano teacher, music has been a part of Janna Williamson’s life since she was in utero. Whether playing solo or collaborating with individuals or groups, Janna values personal expression at the instrument and gravitates towards music full of lyricism and meaning. Her favorite composers include (but are not limited to!) Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Prokofiev, and Poulenc. A great appreciator of new music, Janna savors opportunities to work creatively and use extended techniques. 

Janna is a highly sought-after teacher of students of all levels with over 20 years of professional teaching experience. She maintains a home studio in West Chicago and taught at the Wheaton Yamaha Music School from 2001-2020. A teacher of teachers, she has mentored countless pianists beginning their pedagogical journeys. She regularly adjudicates student events and presents to music teachers associations around the country and has presented at state conferences including Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota. Janna joined TopMusicPro in 2021 as a Content Creator where she trains other teachers in how to teach historical repertoire and has had the privilege to edit for Piano Safari.

An active church musician capable of playing in a variety of styles and comfortable singing solo or as part of a choir, Janna launched her church’s children’s choir in 2011 and grew membership to over 35 boys and girls at its peak. She has had the privilege of singing as section leader with choirs in multiple English cathedrals, including Durham, Ely, Salisbury, and Wells Cathedrals.

Janna holds a masters degree in piano performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University (summa cum laude), where she studied primarily with Winston Choi. Janna earned her bachelors degree in piano performance from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music (also summa cum laude) where she studied with Karin Redekopp Edwards and was the overall winner of the annual concerto competition as well as the recipient of many other awards. Between degrees Janna studied with Donald Walker (Northern Illinois University). She has performed in masterclass for esteemed artists such as Edward Auer, Kenneth Drake, James Giles, Martin Katz, Abbey Simon, and William Westney. Janna is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Musicians Club of Women, and the Wheaton College Scholastic Honor Society.
